He is usually in his Mechanicsville office, he goes to Roanoke very rarely. He does not go to court, as his whole practice is debt collection for Atlantic Credit and Finance, operated by his cousins, Kelly and Richard Woolwine.

Alicia's number is (540) 527-4003. You will have much better results with her than with the obnoxious "collection agents" or "paralegals" you normally have to talk to. She is civil, and not paid on commission!

The website of collections attorney, John P. Frye, contains photographs of what appear to be attorneys conferring with clients.

The Virginia State Bar has weighed in. They say Frye is using "stock photos" on his site. The Virginia State Bar did not go quite so far as to say the photographs are misleading, and therefore a violation, but it is clear that the photographs are NOT of Frye, attorneys working in his office, or clients.

It is just another case of deception perpetrated by John P. Frye.

Treat him like any other debt collector. Demand something in writing, respond with a debt validation letter.

It is hard to tell if the "law offices" of John P. Frye (including, of course, the man himself, John P. Frye) are incompetent, fraudulent or both.

Here's a piece of correspondence showing how Frye and friends made it nearly impossible to pay. The subtext, of course, was that they really wanted a little something extra for their trouble.

That did not happen. What happened is that Frye (and his so-called "clients" at Atlantic Credit and Finance) ended up settling for about 30%.

Now, of course, Frye can see if his games work at Wells Fargo.

When confronted with their incompetence and dishonesty (including well documented evidence of wire fraud), the "law offices" of John P. Frye and Atlantic Credit and Finance backed down.

It is sad to say that so much effort was required. However, when dealing with the likes of Frye and his cousins, Richard and Kelly Woolwine, there is no real alternative if you want to protect your rights.

John P. Frye Nearly Gets Man FIRED

A representative of the Law Offices of John P. Frye was looking for a man with a common name.

Based on a Google search, someone with that name was found. The Frye representative called the company, and apparently masquerading as an attorney, managed to get the phone number at the customer site where the man worked.

The representative called the worksite and discussed the man's alleged debts and Frye's plans to garnish the man's wages.

The man was called in and told in that the place had a "zero tolerance" policy on garnishment. He was removed from the worksite until he could demonstrate there would not be a garnishment.

His employer advised they had no other work for him and if he he did not fix this they would lay him off.

Calls to Frye's offices went nowhere. Jacqueline Gerlach, a Frye associate attorney, assured the man that John P. Frye would be available at 11am the next day. Frye was nowhere to be found.

Frye's office refused to fix the problem they created. The only reason the man still has a job is because of the horrible reputation enjoyed by John P. Frye for such abusive behavior. Once people looked at the facts, they saw that Frye had a history of breaking the law.

A reader reports that they don't like to be referred to as "you people" (as in "why do you people call this number all the time").

They say it is racist but that's silly.

Tough Times in Roanoke!

Atlantic Credit and Finance has let go of about a dozen workers. That amounts to 10% of the company’s work force.

The Law Offices of John P. Frye, an affiliate handling Atlantic's legal work, has laid off 80 people, reducing their workforce to 300 people.

Never send these people a check…

It is NEVER a good idea to provide a collection agency with your bank account details, and that includes sending them a check.

Someone did a settlement with the Law Office of John P. Frye, which is, of course, just another part of Atlantic Credit and Finance, operated by Richard and Kelly Woolwine.

They paid by check. Several months later, their bank contacted them and said that there had been an "unusual" withdrawal attempt-from the Law Office of John P. Frye.

Patrick Gardner, the "collections manager" at the Law Office of John P. Frye, had no idea. He hastily referred them to Atlantic Credit and Finance. Atlantic has a "compliance department" which seems to be nothing more than voicemail.

The solution? A few calls to Wachovia, where the Law Office of John P. Frye has its account.

Michael Katzen

Michael Katzen is the "other" partner in the Law Office of John P. Frye. However, the real office is not in Roanoke, but Mechanicsville.

The Roanoke office is part of Atlantic Credit & Finance, run by Kelly and Richard Woolwine.

John P. Frye has a phone number in Roanoke, but he has never answered it!

A quick way to get resolution is to call (804) 746-3296 and leave a message for Michael Katzen. He does "real" legal work. John P. Frye skims off the Woolwine's debt collection machine.

However, as lawyers, Frye and Katzen have to follow the rules. If they don't, they lose their law license. Plain and simple.

Let Katzen know you'll be filing a Virginia Bar complaint against him. Enough of them, and away goes his cusy little divorce operation.

People have had good results with Katzen! Just ignore the abusive, commission-only collectors in Roanoke and deal with him directly.
